Bernard Denner is standing … Mildura Rural City Council Elections

If elected to the MRCC my approach to every issue will be, does this enhance our way of life, improve in every respect the wellbeing of our community and make economic sense.

There is a lot we have achieved, more we can achieve, much we need to achieve and the best way to make it happen is by having strong, vibrant, passionate and energetic councillors that involve community and embrace all the ratepayers and those who live in the MRCC district. That will be me.

We have shown during the recent drought and flood our true resilience and abilities and we need to capture this for our future directions across all aspects that make living or visiting in Sunraysia a good life.

Another aspect of our life in Sunraysia is the benefits that volunteerism brings to our community. I have been privileged to experience firsthand the inspiring commitment to volunteerism which makes out community stronger, safer and more liveable and we need to support our volunteers across all their community activities. I have been a CFA volunteer for 12 years and am now an active officer of the Irymple Urban Fire Brigade.

I live in Irymple; have two daughters, casual school teacher, and a small businessman with a background in marketing and media. My work as a Health Educator for the last 20 years has taken me across the MRCC region, rural Australia and the world

ABC listeners may recognise me from the Men’s Health segment for eight years on the ABC Victoria morning show with Dave Lennon.

My commitment if elected is to represent and advocate for all the ratepayers of the MRCC district in a way that makes our region stronger, more liveable and guarantees its future, through maintaining and improving our environment of employment opportunities through business growth, education for all and health services that keep pace with our growth. MRCC influences all this growth and plays a major role in community future and the infrastructure that supports growth. As a new councillor I would work with council to achieve the best outcomes within the budget and in the best interest of our whole community.

My life work has shown what can be achieved by listening, consulting, debating and involving communities and it is with this approach we can make our region an even better place to live and a great place to visit.
