Irymple Man Bernard DENNER standing for MRCC
As a MRCC Councillor I would want to encourage that we be proud of where we live and continue to develop this pride through the achievements of our Sunraysia community. There are future challenges that lie ahead to maintain our way of life, community wellness and economic certainty.
I believe that our council needs new faces and a new energy to help support our community into the future especially for growth of population, employment , businesses opportunities, rates, roads and rubbish and especially big budget projects.
If elected to the MRCC my approach to every issue will be, does this enhance our way of life, improve in every respect the health of our community, and make economic sense. Issues that council can deliver such as continuation of drainage system to reduce flooding, the Riverfront Development which will have a big impact on our ability to use the river front, create jobs, enhance tourism and provide locals with access to more events on the river. The sporting complex issue needs to be resolved in a way that is economically viable for the future of a sports complex for whole community. Our general health is an important issue that requires greater community participation in Healthy Communities Partnership based on the report that 40% of our population is overweight. I want to see more walking tracks, safer footpaths to encourage more people to take advantage of our climate and walk more.

The health and wellbeing of our community is not just about our general health but our economic viability and the ongoing role of council to encourage development and new business as well as existing business to progress in these tough times to create employment for young and older people.

I believe with my energy and background in business and in community health as well as volunteering and commitment to public service I will bring to Council a balanced and experienced voice, not just a noise but an advocate for the range of issues that impact our community and future. I am committed to my community across in a range of issues with 15 years in CFA and station manager of community radio station Hotfm which with support has been totally modernized with new technical systems, computers, music system and renovated premises. I am also a local Bail Justice.
I will listen to my community value their input and support what collectively we believe is the best outcome for the majority of our community and what is in the best interests of our future. I can use my experience to bring a constructive and decisive voice into the future of our region and input into all the issues that impact on our present and future regional/rural lifestyle.
